Natural and vegan cosmetic treatments

Updated: Oct 14, 2023

Anyone can benefit from our list of natural and vegan cosmetic treatments. Who knew there were this many?

There are many reasons why you might be on the lookout for natural and vegan cosmetic treatments. You might be:

  • vegan

  • sensitive, reactive or have an impaired skin barrier

  • allergic to certain ingredients often found in skincare

  • just conscious of what you put into your body!

Whatever the reason, it is reassuring to know that there are plenty of options when it comes to treating yourself and your skin.

We have counted down some of our favourites!

7) HENNA BROWS

The natural alternative to brow dye, Henna is a plant-based stain that can last for weeks on the hair and skin. Pair it with a brow tweeze and usma aftercare oil for natural hair conditioning and growth and you will have naturally perfect brows!

This service is pregnancy and breastfeeding safe.

6) BIOLOGI FACIAL

Biologi is an Australian, 100% natural product range created simply from botanical extracts. The range includes a semi-foaming cleanser, powder exfoliator, biodegradable sheet masks and a selection of active, phyto-nutrient serums including a pure Vitamin C. Not only are these products available to purchase for home-use, but The Cosmetic Hub offers a 100% Natural Biologi Facial including Gua Sha massage for some serious 'me-time'.

5) LED THERAPY

LED Therapy is one way that you can address your health and cosmetic concerns without using any ingredients and without any physical contact. Each machine comes with various settings, some of which are used by medical professionals to treat patients for pain management and joint inflammation. In the cosmetic industry, the settings that are most commonly used are:

  • Healite (often yellow/red) which is used for accelerated wound healing and cell stimulation.

  • Blue Light Phototherapy which is used to reduce hyperactivity in the skin, specifically targeting active acne, psoriasis and eczema.

While this is a light therapy, it is important to note that no Ultra Violet (UV) is emitted, and therefore this treatment is safe for regular use. Frequency is determined by the condition that you are wishing to treat.

Healite LED is suitable during pregnancy, but unfortunately Blue Light Phototherapy is not. Please ask your Skin Therapist for more details.

4) DERMAPLANING

Provided a plant-based facial oil is used with your treatment, Dermaplaning is a 100% natural skin treatment. The process involves using a small blade to slough away dead skin cells and 'peach fuzz' hairs on the face, leaving a baby-smooth complexion. It is the perfect way to prepare for a big event, as it allows your skincare to absorb more effectively and your makeup to sit perfectly. We like to use Guiya Minerals Eternal Youth Oil during our Dermaplaning treatments.

3) MICRODERMABRASION / HYDRADERMABRASION (HYDRAFACIAL)

A Crystal or Diamond Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation of dead skin build-up, while a Hydrafacial has the added step of flushing the pores with suction and water for an intense clean. Provided that a natural skincare is used during the treatment, a Micro or Hydrafacial can be classified as 100% natural. Just make sure that you specify with your skin therapist what products you would like used on your skin.

2) SKIN NEEDLING

Skin Needling (otherwise known as Collagen Induction Therapy - CIT) is a natural process in itself, but it does require the use of a serum for 'slip' during the treatment. The Biologi product range can be used in conjunction with Skin Needling, and you can request that only these products are to be used.

Skin Needling is not recommended while pregnant due to the risk of infection. Only a light setting with no numbing cream is suitable while breastfeeding.

1) PRP - PLATELET-RICH PLASMA / LIQUID COLLAGEN FIBRIN INJECTIONS

If you are looking for an alternative to injectables products, this is it. A PRP treatment involves drawing a small amount of your blood and spinning it in a centrifugal machine to separate the red blood cells from the white blood cells, stem cells, liquid collagen fibrin and plasma - your body's own liquid gold. While you can use your own PRP during a Skin Needling treatment (a 'Vampire Facial'), PRP can cause a burning sensation when it is applied in this way, and so often a synthetic numbing cream is required. As a result, this method of use is not considered a natural treatment. However, having your PRP injected into your skin feels much the same having anti-wrinkle injections and does not require numbing cream. Whilst the PRP does not stop muscle movement like anti-wrinkle does, it does help to soften the appearance of fine lines and so it is a popular treatment for crows feet. PRP Injections is also the treatment of choice for the under-eye area, and for reducing acne and scarring on the cheeks. It is also effective at stimulating hair follicles and so you can choose to inject it around your hairline. It really is your choice as to how you use it, and as it is your body's own product, it can't get more natural than this!

PRP is not recommended while pregnant due to the risk of infection. PRP with no numbing cream may be suitable while breastfeeding.
